Hey there! So first off I would like to thank everyone who suggested I try underwater photography. It was the suggestions from those around me that drove me to create this shoot. So if there is something you would love to see, underwater or above, let me know! Now I will go into a little more about this particular shoot.....
First things first....I had no idea what I was doing and figured this shoot would either be awesome or suck, oh well. It was pretty last minute because I was leaving to go back home. I happened to find an amazing couple with a beautiful connection that were excited about being dunked underwater a few hundred times. I was going to purchase a dress but didn't have enough time for it to ship so I said screw it and made one out of some white cotton I had laying around. I ripped most of it to give it some texture, collected some waist/height measurements and made ties so I could loosen or tighten the dress. I then dyed it in my tub with fibre reactive dye (that I also had laying around from another project....I have a lot of stuff laying around.
The location was at a private residence during mid day. It would have been much better to do this at a lake or other more natural location but in Mississippi there aren't many safe places to do that so we stuck to the pool!
We set the mood with music I had the couple make and got comfortable with some shots on the land. We then moved to 1/2 in the pool and then the last 30 minutes or so went underwater. In total the shoot was about 2 hours. I used Rose Walton's presets as a base but still tweaked them heavily. As a base I am totally obsessed with them.
Underwater I over shot big time and only got a few decent images, so don't let that discourage you if you try this as well.
I will be creating metal prints to purchase at a low starting price to fund a wider angle lens and underwater housing. If this is something you are interested in I will be adding a link soon or you can just drop me a line and let me know what image you wanted/size.
Thanks for stopping by! If you have any questions about this shoot or have any ideas or inspiration you would like to see me create next just comment below and I will respond as soon as possible!
